Houthis attack British-linked tanker Marlin Luanda in Gulf of Aden
A tanker with ties to the UK, the Marlin Luanda, is on fire in the Gulf of Aden following a missile strike by the Houthis.
The Iran-backed group cited “American-British aggression” as the motive for the attack on Friday.
In response, the US and UK conducted air strikes on Houthi targets in the Red Sea region.
French, Indian, and US naval ships assisted the tanker. An update on Saturday said the fire had been put out and no crew had been injured in the strike. The ship is now sailing towards a safe harbour.
UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps condemned the incident, labelling it as “intolerable and illegal.”
