Hottest day of the year at 29C as freedom put on ice

The Metro reports the “hottest day of the year” so far as Monday’s temperatures reached a whopping 29C. The paper describes the PM’s announcement on the delay on lifting lockdown for a month as being “put on ice”. The paper adds the delay is to try and build “a wall of immunity” by vaccinating millions more younger people. 

The front splash features a picture of PM Boris Johnson with his head slightly bowed as he delivered the news to the nation during last night’s press conference. The paper adds the rules have exceptions for Wimbledon and weddings.
