The Metro – Hopes Fade For Missing Six

    August 21, 2024

Despite fading hopes, rescue teams are still looking for the six people missing from the superyacht that sunk near Sicily, as the Metro reports. Jeremy Bloomer, the twin brother of missing bank boss Jonathan Bloomer, said he hoped air pockets could offer a chance of survival for those inside the vessel. He told the BBC: ‘It’s a slow process and it will take time. So there might be air pockets, but we don’t know. It’s still wait and see, so fingers crossed.’

Air pockets on Bayesian yacht ‘offer chance of survival’ as search enters third day

Those missing in the Bayesian yacht disaster in Sicily may still be alive thanks to air pockets, a brother of one of the missing has said.

Italian search and rescue teams are battling to get inside the Bayesian luxury yacht which sank rapidly to the seabed about 160 ft underwater on Monday.

Now Jeremy Bloomer, the twin brother of missing bank boss Jonathan Bloomer, has said he hopes air pockets could offer a chance of survival for those inside the vessel.

He told the BBC: ‘It’s a slow process and it will take time. So there might be air pockets, but we don’t know. It’s still wait and see, so fingers crossed.’

If you are someone who reads every perspective of a story, here is a news summary of all of today’s front pages from today’s newspapers; summarised in a 2-minute read

‘Search for missing in air pockets’ - Paper Talk

    Editorial 21 August 2024.

Wednesday’s front pages reflect the latest in the luxury yacht sinking off the coast of Sicily as more details have emerged about those missing. Many of the papers report on rescue crews attempting to access the sunken ship with some speculating if anyone could still be alive.

Elsewhere, King Charles is pictured on most of the front splashes as he visited with victims of the Southport victims. The king is seen on the front viewing flower tributes to the three little girls who were killed.

Domestic politics and showbiz stories are sprinkled across the front pages, though there is little unity in their political and celebrity front page reports.
