Maxine’s meeting with Eric ended in heartbreak (Picture: Lime Pictures)
Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) was left clutching her face in agony in Hollyoaks after a prison showdown with violent incel Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty).
Eric, as viewers know, is currently serving a lengthy sentence in prison for terrorising the women of the eponymous village in a reign of terror that culminated with a siege at The Dog.
The incel shot Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher) with a crossbow, before turning his attention to Maxine who, despite her injuries, proved instrumental in taking him down like the true hero and survivor that she is.
Eric has been languishing in prison ever since, blackmailing James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) in a bid to get his sentence reduced, promising to dob him in to authorities if he fails to come good on his end of the deal.
James did as Eric instructed, trying to manipulate unsuspecting Maxine into paying his client a visit in prison.
Maxine found out what James was up to and it’s safe to say she was appalled, but despite his deviousness, she agreed to meet with Eric in a bid to save him from having to spend his life behind bars, especially at a time when Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw), who is battling cancer, needs her big brother.

Eric came face-to-face with Maxine during Friday’s (May 5) first look E4 offering of the Channel 4 soap, putting on a facade and pretending to have turned over a new leaf, but Maxine was quick to reveal that she knew he was simply after a reduced sentence.
Maxine ordered James to leave her and Eric alone, as she urged the incel to reveal why he believes women are the root cause of his issues in life, trying to understand his logic – or lack thereof – before effortlessly pulling a part the belief system which he holds in high regard.

Unable to face up to the fact that Maxine was right, Eric lashed out and got violent, ordering her to stop talking.
The guards intervened, apprehending the aggressive misogynist, but not before he pushed Maxine to the floor and into a table, which left her screaming in agony, nursing an injury on her face.
Will Maxine be okay? And will Eric pay for what he’s done?
