Holly Willoughby made her return to This Morning on Monday morning after being forced to miss the show due to illness.

The 42-year-old star revealed early last week that she had come down with shingles and had to sit out for a few days as she recovered, but now she is doing ‘much better’.

She said: ‘It’s nice to be back. I’m much better. I had a wobbly week and a half. If anyone’s had shingles, it’s really not the nicest thing, but yes, I’m much better.

    ‘All mended and back!’

Holly had previously told her followers that she ‘may be away’ from the show for a while following her diagnosis, but vowed to ‘be back as soon as I’m better’.

Over the weekend, she revealed she was on the mend and she finally managed to get outside for some fresh air.

‘And I’m out of the house… the birds are putting on quite the show today… spring sounds beautiful,’ she posted on Instagram on Saturday morning, alongside a photo of her Golden Retriever Bailey.

Her post was met with plenty of support from well-wishers, who sent their love and said they hoped she had a speedy recovery.

‘Shingles is awful. Hope you are ok,’ one person posted, while someone else added: ‘Glad you are feeling better.’

This week The Saturdays singer and Hit List presenter Rochelle Humes, 34, has been filling for Holly, hosting from Monday to Thursday.

Phil, meanwhile, returned to This Morning on Monday after taking a break during the Easter holidays and his brother Timothy Schofield’s trial, telling viewers it was ‘lovely to be back.’

His sibling was recently found guilty at Exeter Crown Court of sexually abusing a teenage boy over a period of three years, having been charged with 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019 – including two of sexual activity with a child.

Following the guilty verdict, Phil issued a statement and said he ‘no longer’ had a brother.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
