Hoda Kotb has revealed that her daughter, Hope, was rushed to intensive care amid a health scare, as she made a return to the Today show.
The 58-year-old sparked concern from viewers after taking time off from out screens, and had not been part of the live program since mid-February.
Last week, Craig Melvin said that she was away for a ‘family health matter’ that she had been dealing with off air, and told fans that she would be back on air soon.
Appearing on this morning’s instalment beside Savannah Guthrie, who also returned after battling Covid-19, Hoda shared the reason behind her two-week absence was due to her three-year-old daughter’s illness.
‘Hoda it is nice to have you right back where you belong,’ her co-star began the episode. ‘It’s been a tough couple of weeks, you’ve been dealing with a health issue with your little daughter.’
‘My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for a few days, and in the hospital for a little more than a week,’ she continued, becoming emotional.

‘I’m so grateful she’s home, she is back home. I was waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely. I’m just so happy.
‘You know what I realized too, Savannah? When your child is ill, the amount of gratitude you can have for people who helped you out.
‘I’m grateful for the doctors at Weill Cornell who were amazing and the nurses. And I’m grateful for my family and I’m grateful to friends like you who were there every single day. So, I want to say thank you for that. I love you.’
‘I love you too,’ Savannah added. ‘You have a lot of friends out there who are right there with you, lifting you up, and Hope too.’

Hoda shares Hope and eldest daughter Haley with former partner Joel Schiffman, who she started dating in 2013.
They announced their engagement in 2019 but confirmed last year that they had called time on their relationship.

‘Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and meaningful conversations over the holidays and we decided that we are better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple,’ she said at the time.
‘So we decided we are going to start this new year on our new path as loving parents to our adorably delightful children and as friends.’
