Dame Helen Mirren transforms into Queen Elizabeth I for Platinum Jubilee Celebration
The Metro says Dame Helen Mirren underwent a dramatic transformation for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, as she played the role of Queen Elizabeth I.
The event, titled A Gallop Through History, was broadcast on ITV to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years on the throne.
Dame Helen, 76, looked completely regal as she took on the role, dressed in a golden gown and stiffened corset.
She also wore pale white makeup in the style of the historic Queen, and a curly red wig.
The actress, who also played Queen Elizabeth in a two-part drama in 2005, performed her famous speech to the troops at Tilbury where she declared: ‘I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too.’
