Harry’s book is called SPARE – gets release date
Prince Harry’s memoir will be called SPARE and has a release date of 10 January 2023. The title is a nod to the nickname ‘heir and a spare’ – with William being the heir to the throne.
The book reportedly starts at the moment of Princess Diana’s funeral, with the publishers saying: “SPARE takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow-and horror.
“As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling and how their lives would play out from that point on.”
The publisher’s statement says it’s “his story at least” and will delve into Harry’s “personal journey from trauma to healing”.
“With its raw, unflinching honesty, SPARE is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief,” a description of the book reads.
“Penguin Random House is honoured to be publishing Prince Harry’s candid and emotionally powerful story for readers everywhere,” said the publisher’s chief executive, Markus Dohle.
“He shares a remarkably moving personal journey from trauma to healing, one that speaks to the power of love and will inspire and encourage millions of people around the world.”
The book will be available across the globe and in 15 additional languages.
Money from the sales of his book will be donated to support British charities including Sentebale and WellChild.
