‘Daddy is dead, this is not a prank,’ a boy can be heard telling his brother in unseen before footage of Hamas’ onslaught on southern Israel on October 7.

Israel’s Defence Forces (IDF) released a 43-minute compilation of the massacre to show the extent of the militant’s group’s atrocities – but most of it is too graphic to be shown to the public.

A screening was held for journalists yesterday at a military base on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.

They were shown raw footage from retrieved body cameras worn by the gunmen as they raided kibbutz after kibbutz.

Clips from CCTV and dashboard cameras and victims’ mobile show the hours-long terror.

One traumatic sequence showed a dad rushing his two young boys into an above ground shelter, seconds before attackers threw a grenade in.

The dad was killed, while his sons were injured and left in a state of utter distress, the BBC reported.

After the two boys staggered back into their home screaming, a Hamas gunman calmly entered and looked through the fridge in front of them, pausing to take a drink before walking out again.

One of the boys can be heard crying to his brother and then repeating ‘Why am I alive?’

His brother was apparently blinded by the grenade. A military spokesperson at the screening was unable to say whether they survived.

The film also contained an audio recording of one of the Hamas gunmen calling home to his parents in Gaza to boast that he had ‘killed at least 10 Jews with my bare hands’.

‘Please open WhatsApp and look how many dead,’ he told his parents repeatedly, apparently referring to pictures or video he had sent home showing the attack.

‘Your son killed so many Jews. Mum, your son is a hero.’

Government spokesperson Eylon Levy said the video was being released in a bid to counter what he described as a ‘Holocaust denial-like phenomenon’ amid his country’s bombardment of the Gaza Strip.

He stressed that the choice to share it was not an every day decision, but added ‘what we showed you, you should know’.
