Gwyneth Paltrow responds to backlash over ‘wellness’ routine: ‘I eat full meals and french fries’

Gwyneth Paltrow has reacted to the furor that was sparked over her daily eating habits, which included ‘bone broth’ for lunch.

The Goop founder, 50, is renowned for her eccentric eating habits, including previously following a macrobiotic diet.

But her latest ‘wellness’ routine, shared on The Art of Being Wellbeing podcast with Dr Will Cole, came under fire from dieticians, activists and celebrities including Jameela Jamil.

The Shallow Hal star explained she fasts until 12pm when she would eat ‘soup’ or ‘bone broth’ followed by an hour of exercise and eats ‘lots of vegetables’ in the evening in accordance with the paleo diet.

The diet sparked concern, with body positivity influencer Alex Light branding it ‘hugely disordered eating’, while The Good Place star Jameela urged her followers not to take nutrition advice from celebrities.

Now, the Sliding Doors actress has responded to the criticism on her Instagram Stories, insisting she ‘eats full meals.’

She explained the diet was devised with her doctor to help with her symptoms of long-Covid and focussed on foods to combat inflammations, such as ‘cooked vegetables, proteins and healthy carbs.’

‘It’s been working really well. This is based on my medical results and extensive testing over time,’ she added.

The Emma star said the podcast was a ‘transparent look’ at a conversation between me and my doctor,’ adding: ‘It’s not meant to be advice for anybody else.’

Gwyneth, who said she felt ‘powerful’ from the diet, said: ‘I don’t eat this way all day every day.’

She continued: ‘And by the way, I eat far more than bone broth and vegetables. I eat full meals and. I also have a lot of days of eating whatever I want and eating french fries and whatever.’

Gwyneth appeared to shrug off the backlash when she was all smiles at a Goop event on Thursday in LA.

The glitzy bash, which was celebrating the unveiling of her new Goop Glow Vita-C brightening eye cream, was also attended by Maria Shriver Rachel Zoe and Molly Simms.
