Daily Mirror front page, UK Papers

The Daily Mirror uses its sub-headline highlighting the words of prosecutor Alison Morgan who said the defendant had displayed a “dark depravity”. Gavin Plumb allegedly plotted to knock out the TV star and her husband with chloroform in a night raid at their home. The 37-year-old, who denies the charges, unwittingly shared his plans with an undercover police officer in the US online.

Elsewhere, an image of Harry Kane features on the front page ahead of England’s last group stage match of the Euros today.

There is also room to report on Princess Anne’s accident that has left her in hospital.

5 England stars with points to prove as Gareth Southgate’s starting XI vs Slovenia ‘leaked’

England are already safely through to the knockout stage of Euro 2024, but it still feels like Tuesday night’s Group C finale against Slovenia has plenty riding on it. The Three Lions have failed to inspire in both of their previous outings and have copped plenty of flack ahead of their trip to Cologne. And even with qualification already assured, Gareth Southgate ‘s men will need to produce a performance if they are to lift the mood surrounding England. ‘Holly Willoughby kidnap plot trial’ & 'IFS scathing verdict' - Paper Talk

    Editorial 25 June 2024.

Tuesday’s front pages have a little more variety than what we’ve seen over the past few weeks – with other domestic topics away from the general election finding themselves as the lead story.

The tabloids lead on the opening day of a trial of a man accused of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby. Princess Anne’s accident at home – which has seen the 73-year-old taken to hospital, as well as England’s upcoming Euros match also make the front splash.

Elsewhere, politics make up the rest of the front pages with the left-leaning newspapers picking up on comments that the IFS think tank has said Labour and Conservative plans to improve public services are “essentially unfunded.” The right-leaning papers offer up their scrutiny of Labour’s plans if they are elected to government on 4 July.
