After a year of wild fan theories, Rockstar Games has finally given some indication that a new GTA 6 trailer is inbound.
GTA 6 is certain to be the biggest game of 2025 according to every metric, which is partly why it has continued to spark intense fan speculation around when the next trailer will drop.
This is also down to Rockstar Games’ silence over the past year, since the first trailer released in December 2023. While there’s been many optimistic fan theories since then, it seems like the developer is finally preparing to release more footage as we approach the one year mark.
If prior speculation was largely through breadcrumb teasers and pure hope, there’s now actual credible evidence to suggest Rockstar could drop the next GTA 6 trailer very soon.
As posted on Reddit by unia_, the GTA 6 playlist on the Rockstar YouTube channel was updated in the early hours of Monday, December 2.
While it’s unclear what the update actually is, this is apparently the first time the playlist has seen any alterations since the first trailer dropped on December 4, and with the one-year anniversary first approaching, many are optimistically connecting the dots.
‘This is the most credible hopium I’ve seen,’ one user wrote in the comments.
Rockstar’s secrecy is no doubt in part to avoid another leak, as the original trailer appeared online several hours before it was supposed to.
Of course, there’s also a chance we might not hear anything at all until next year, but all the evidence points to some kind of update in December. Although given how Rockstar pointedly avoided it last year, it’s relatively unlikely it’ll be part of The Game Awards on December 13.
An update for GTA Online is definitely set to debut this month, which will include new robberies at the Darnell Bros Garment Factory, dispatch work missions, and vehicles. Although that’s probably nothing to do with the new trailer.
GTA 6 doesn’t have a precise release date, but Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two has reaffirmed it is currently scheduled for autumn 2025.
