‘Gripping’ crime drama finally available to watch in the UK after months’ long wait

After a four month wait, UK audiences can finally tune into a crime drama series declared ‘captivating’ by fans.

First airing in the United States in September last year, High Potential is based on the French/ Belgian TV series HPI, which itself aired in 2021.

The series stars Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Hacks) as single mother of three Morgan, who works as a cleaning lady for the Los Angeles Police Department.

However, after she manages to solve a case – having a high IQ of 160 – she is hired as a consultant for the LAPD’s Major Crimes division.

At the same time Morgan also utilises the LAPD’s resources to investigate what happened to the father of her eldest daughter, who disappeared years earlier.

The series, which so far holds a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, has been praised by both critics and fans alike.

‘Erin Brockovich meets Psych in this show that strikes a fun balance between light drama and heavy comedy, mixing the crime procedural elements with the sharp wit of Kaitlin Olson,’ Common Sense Media wrote in its review.

‘Love this show!! It’s refreshing, funny, light-hearted, smart & has good crimes,’ Yvonne shared.

‘Such a binge worthy show and I love how fun but also at the edge of your seat the whole time,’ Greyson wrote.

‘High Potential is a captivating crime drama that has quickly become a favourite of mine. It’s a must-watch for anyone who enjoys crime dramas with a strong, relatable lead and well-thought-out storylines,’ another added.

Upon its premiere, High Potential became the most-watched new series on ABC in six years.

This week it was released on Disney Plus in the UK, with the first two episodes airing.

The 13-episode series, which also stars Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie and Deniz Akdeniz, was this week renewed for a second season too.

Kaitlin previously spoke about working on this show and how it was different to previous projects.

‘In the past, I’ve done straight comedy, but this is a dramatic procedural with a very fun character,’ she told What to Watch.

‘Morgan gives me an opportunity to play true emotion, true comedy and everything in between.’

High Potential is streaming on Disney Plus.
