Justin Timberlake putting on a ‘blaccent’ after bumping into Ginuwine was undoubtedly the most bizarre revelation to come from Britney Spears’ memoir – but it might never have happened.
The Toxic singer, 42, detailed her highly-publicised relationship with Justin, 42, in her book, The Woman In Me released in October, and claimed that the N*SYNC star ‘got excited’ when they ran into Pony singer Ginuwine in New York.
According to Britney, Justin said in a ‘blaccent’: ‘Oh yeah, fo shi, fo shiz! Ginuwiiiiiine! What’s up, homie?’
However, R&B icon Ginuwine, 53, has now spoken out about the claim and he has no recollection of it at all.
‘Yeah, yeah, I definitely heard about it. People were calling about that. But I can tell you I don’t remember that happening. I truly don’t remember that happening,’ he told People.
The crooner added: ‘If Justin would’ve did something like that, I probably would’ve looked at him like, “Why are you acting like that?” If he did that, that would be something that I would remember. That would’ve definitely stuck out.
‘So nah, I don’t remember that happening.’
In the book chapter, Britney claimed that Justin and his N*SYNC bandmates ‘tried too hard’ to fit in with Black artists.
‘His band, NYSNC, was what people back then called ‘so pimp’. They were white boys , but they loved hip-hop. To me that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group. NYSNC hung out with Black artists,’ she wrote.
The account of Justin and Ginuwine’s encounter went viral on social media thanks to actress Michelle Williams’ brilliant yet cringy narration for the audiobook.
Justin, who dated Britney between 1999 and 2002, has not publicly addressed the various claims made about him in the book maintaining a wall of silence.
However, N*SYNC star Lance Bass recently called for him to be ‘forgiven.’

When questioned on whether he believes the backlash against his bandmate is ‘unfair’, Lance thought carefully before responding.
‘Look, I mean,’ he began with a smile. ‘Everyone has their own opinion.’
‘I just feel like the world is so full of hate right now that we need to practise a little forgiveness,’ he said.
‘Britney did! So, let’s take a note from her,’ Lance added.
When the reporter agreed that it was fans who seemed more upset with Justin than Britney herself, Lance replied: ‘Everyone deserves the chance to tell their story. She did and I hope, again, you know, that the fans can find some forgiveness.’
