Renee Rapp confessed that she is ‘ageist’ in a bizarre interview, leaving many baffled.
The Mean Girls actress, who is currently starring as Regina George in the musical movie adaptation, took aim at ‘millennial women’ during a stint on Watch What Happens Live.
The 24-year-old was born in January, 2000, meaning she is firmly in the Gen Z age range.
Appearing on the Bravo show alongside Real Housewives of Potomac’s Gizelle Bryant, she was asked which Housewife she would be best friends with in real life.
‘There’s something about Karen [Huger] that’s just so funny to me,’ she began, before things quickly went sideways. ‘She’s so funny, and I’m very ageist but, like…’
Host Andy Cohen was left baffled by the admission, and interrupted to question: ‘You’re ageist?!’

‘I am, actually,’ Renee simply replied as the host, 55, clarified: ‘You don’t like older people?
‘We’ve got to dig into this. Okay… So you’re a little ageist. Well, let me ask you this, are you ageist towards me?’
‘No, no,’ she insisted, as Andy pressed: ‘You just look down on older people? Or don’t care for them?’
Gizelle attempted to throw her a lifeline, joking: ‘You don’t like them driving on the roads?’

The driving thing has got to go,’ she laughed. ‘I don’t know, I just was always the young one in situations…
‘Millennial women were always coming for me and I was like, “Shut up.”’
The RHOP OG then warned: ‘You’re going to get older one day.’
‘I fear,’ Renee added. ‘I fear because I’m ageist!’

After the original advert for Mean Girls left millennials massively triggered, the comments divided viewers further, and they flocked to unpack exactly what Renee could have meant on Twitter.
A baffled social media fan said: ‘From now on I’ll refer to her as ageist Renee Rapp from the Mean Girls movie. #WWHL.’
One warned: ‘Renee Rapp is ageist playing a high schooler??? Girl the call is coming from inside home room!’
‘Renee Rapp was bound to misstep on this media tour because she was playing it fast and loose, but to champion yourself as a feminist and then go on #WWHL (home of Real Housewives) and proudly announce you’re ageist, but only against older women—that is not the move. #BravoTV,’ an unimpressed follower posted.

However, others rushed to defend Renee, insisting that she was simply being playful.
‘They don’t get her humor. It was clearly a joke,’ one said.
‘Labeling yourself ageist and naming a millennial as the culprit is so camp,’ another joked.
‘Every interview I see with Renee I start to love her more and more,’ a viewer praised.
As a Twitter user quipped: ‘At first I was like yes you tell ’em! Then she said “millennial” and I was like “damn, I’M ‘old people’”’
A commenter added: ‘I should be offended by Reneé Rapp proudly saying she’s ageist but it’s just too funny I’m laughing instead.’
Renee has yet to publicly address the backlash surrounding her comments.
