    Gary Neville praises under-fire David Raya’s performance in Arsenal draw at Liverpool

    Gary Neville picked out Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya for his performance in the draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday night, but said there are still question marks over Gabriel Jesus.

    It was an engaging game on Merseyside as Gabriel opened the scoring for the visitors before Mohamed Salah equalised for the home team.

    There were chances for both sides after then, with Trent Alexander-Arnold hitting the bar with the best of them, but the game finished 1-1.

    Neville said Arsenal will be happy with their work at Anfield, given the fine form Liverpool have been in, and singled out Raya for praise.

    The on-loan Spaniard has not always been very convincing since arriving from Brentford in the summer, with Neville describing him as a ‘nervous wreck’ earlier in the campaign.

    However, the former Manchester United defender was impressed with the goalkeeper at Liverpool.

    ‘From an Arsenal point of view I think they will be happy, it’s a step forward, getting a point here at Anfield,’ Neville told Sky Sports. ‘I think the question marks over the goalkeeper will subside slightly because I think he was really good, particularly second half.’

    Neville is not convinced that Arsenal have the right man up top, though, with Gabriel Jesus not looking very threatening, while Gabriel Martinelli also looked blunt.

    ‘The question remains up top,’ said Neville. ‘Have they got a centre-forward who can go and take them to the title, sO that tight games like this can go from one point to three.

    ‘But he [Arteta] will be proud of coming to this very difficult place, particularly where they were last season. They’re right where they want to be, they want to be in a title race again and they’re on track to do that.’
