Gareth Southgate has appeared to dismiss suggestions he is planning on calling time as England boss after the World Cup later this year.
This winter’s showpiece in Qatar will be Southgate’s third major tournament as manager, having guided the Three Lions to at least the semi-final in his previous two. But he enters this competition under growing scrutiny after a summer of discontent.
Despite reaching the final of the European Championship just over a year ago, there have been calls for the former defender to step down amid a miserable run of results. England have failed to win their last six matches, with relegation from the top tier of the Nations League confirmed.
