Previously on GTA
Soon as I saw the source on the GTA 6 rumour I knew it would be true, although I didn’t expect the announcement would come just a few hours later. But here we are, and we know that in just a few weeks the GTA 6 hype will be through the roof. And I’ll be right there along with everyone else.
I got curious and took a look at the GTA 5 reveal trailer from 12 years ago and it’s 1 minute and 24 seconds long and doesn’t really tell you anything. It’s primarily to show off the graphics, which were mind-blowing at the time, with all the little details like the convertible car and the oil derricks.
As I remember, at the time, there was no clue as to who was talking or who the main character was, with fans only guessing that it was Michael, since he’s the only one that turns up more than once.
I would imagine much the same kind of approach from GTA 6’s trailer. Rockstar don’t like to abandon a good idea and I think they’d get a kick out of the fact that the same thing is clearly going to work a second time.

Sort-of evil
So that N7 reveal was kind of weird wasn’t it? As far as I can gather there’s no way to tell who the character is and the only real information we got is that the game is going to double down on Andromeda, when I think most people would’ve have been happy to pretend it never happened.
I’m trying to remain optimistic though, as a fan of the origins, and will reserve judgment until we actually see some gameplay and plot details.
My theory is that is Shepard in the outfit and they’ve gone rogue somehow, which will explain the sort-of evil looking clothes. I hope the Reapers aren’t the bad guys aren’t the bad guys again though. The presence of the Geth might be hinting at that but I think it’s time to introduce a new big bad rather than just munching on the member berries.

Linear problem
I don’t usually like to be a Debbie Downer but I don’t see anyway that a Zelda game can work. They can get over the fact that the games have really thin plots but they can’t ignore the fact that Link is not a character. He not only doesn’t talk, he doesn’t have any personality. That’s not a flaw, that’s on purpose. Link is you, he’s just an avatar for you to project yourself onto.
Sure, he’s implied to be a nice guy but that’s all. You can imagine him cussing people out and breaking their pots for fun and there’s nothing in the game to say that’s not how he carries on. As GC always say, he’s your link to the game.
Sure, you could make a good film where Link is given a personality and a proper backstory but already you’re losing some of the magic from the game. Zelda games aren’t trying to be movies, they’re games through and through and I can’t see them working as linear entertainment.

Zero to hero
I’m hoping this would make you smile. I’m a professional gamer from Luton and I like to play video games. Today, I was playing F1 23 on my Xbox and thought of an idea. I picked Williams driver Logan Sargeant for a race in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sargeant crashed into a wall in qualifying, meaning that he started last. However, during the race, he climbed up to first place and won. I have to say, I love the Las Vegas Strip Circuit. I admire the circuit’s attention to detail, especially the 1.181 mile straight. The race I did today proves that anything can happen in Formula One.

Close run thing
I’m hoping with a week to go for the Kickstarter for Hogs Of War Lardcore, that it will reach its goal but at the moment it is so slow that I don’t know if it will. It is currently at £41,628 and the goal is £150,000.
I also backed the Forgotlings game recently on Kickstarter and that was very slow at first, to get funded, and I didn’t think it would reach its goal but it eventually did. I’ve only had one Kickstarter fail myself and that was Sociable Soccer but they have found a way to still release that game, even though the Kickstarter failed.

PS: I see in the Nintendo UK Store if you have enough Nintendo platinum points you can get a Super Mario Bros. pin badge and keychain. Just ordered mine.
No one to speak to
I’m having a problem with the Xbox store at the moment. I purchased a game called Rush Rally Origins. The only issue is I can’t access the in-game garage because it is out of view. I tried going to safe area in the options (to resize the screen) but it will not respond to any of my button prompts. I also can’t upgrade my car for the same reason.
Xbox has denied me a refund and have given me this reason, which makes no sense given that I have only had one refund this year:
‘Customers are eligible for a limited number of refunds per year, and you’ve reached your limit for this year.’
Is there any way I can appeal this? I would rather just be able to play the game properly but that is not an option.
I have no idea how to speak to someone at Microsoft. Every number I have tried has been automated and has been no use. I don’t have a Twitter/X account so I can’t contact anyone either, at least by that method which seems to be the most suggested method.
Any help would be appreciated.

Parental responsibility
Just reading your bit on the family trying to sue game companies for their son’s addiction to gaming… all of the games they have listed are 18+ (in UK). Not only that, can’t they use the word ‘No’ to their son, as in ‘No you’re not going on your games tonight.’
They won’t win this case, just a waste of time if you ask me. But then again, it’s only in America and everyone there never thought a TV star will be president but we all know how that worked out so you never know.

Say no more
There’s obviously a lot of concern surrounding the newly announced Legend Of Zelda movie, particularly regarding the main character in all the video games remaining mute.
Personally, I believe sticking to this tradition could make for some powerful cinema.
Live action or not, we’ve all seen those movies that can emit feeling through visual storytelling.
I can imagine the ground crumbling beneath Link before he lets out a ‘Huh?!’
Or his trademark falling yell as he plunges to the depths of a bottomless pit.
Perhaps an ‘Ahhh?!’ As he figures out the escape of a trap ridden room.
A surprised note to his muted voice when he discovers a mythical beast, or a race of faeries in the eerily silent Lost Woods.
Then of course you have his lunging ‘Aarghhhh!’ As he strikes with the Master Sword he grimaced and grunted to pull from a stone?
Perhaps some humour could be found in a moment he is about to speak and is interrupted on several occasions?
Done well I think this could be a fine piece of cinema, and here’s hoping!

Idiots review bombing the wrong Modern Warfare 3 is strangely hilarious to me. Although I still don’t understand what they’re angry about. Everyone knows it’s four hour long DLC, why are they, supposed fans, only finding that out now?

So we heard about GTA 6 before the Switch 2, huh? I still think there’ll be a reveal early next year though. The more Nintendo denies things the more it tends to mean an announcement is coming soon.

This week’s Hot Topic
With this year’s Call Of Duty due out his week, the subject for this weekend’s Inbox asks which is your favourite entry in the franchise and do you consider yourself a fan?
Call Of Duty has been one of the most popular video game series in the world for over two decades now but what do you think of it and do you feel it deserves its success?
How many of the games have you played and what do you think are the best and worst ones? How would you like to see the franchise evolve in the future and do you think it will ever see a major decline in popularity?
