Bank holidays are slightly different across the four nations of the United Kingdom, so it’s essential to double-check the upcoming dates for where you live.

When is the next bank holiday in 2024?
The next bank holiday is the same for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland and is Monday, January 1, 2024 – New Year’s Day.

England and Wales have eight bank holidays scheduled for 2024, spread throughout the year.

Monday, May 6 – Early May bank holiday
Monday, May 27 – Spring bank holiday
Monday, August 26 – Summer bank holiday

2024 bank holidays in Scotland
If you live in Scotland, nine bank holidays are occurring this year, including a substitute day off for St Andrew’s Day (November 30), which falls on a Saturday this year.

The St. Andrew’s Day bank holiday will be on Monday, December 2 this year.
2024 bank holidays in Northern Ireland
Good news for residents of Northern Ireland: You’ll get the most bank holidays in 2024, with ten scheduled across the year.
This includes a substituted day for St Patrick’s Day (March 17), which falls on a Sunday this year.
