Brooke Shields has reflected on her brief cameo in Friends, and the prank Matthew Perry played on set that she awkwardly attempted to copy.

The late actor played Chandler Bing across all 10 seasons of the beloved comedy, alongside cast members David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston.

The series, which officially ended in 2004, also welcomed in a string of famous guest stars over the years, including Bruce Willis, Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Ben Stiller and Brad Pitt to name a few.

During an appearance on the View earlier today, the 59-year-old unpacked her one-episode stint as Joey’s stalker in season two, and recalled: ‘You go onto a show that’s so well-oiled, and so successful, and I was such a fan – all I wanted was for them to like me.

‘I just wanted to be funny, but I wasn’t in the group. They were very tight. They had all these inside jokes.’

However, Shields shared that she ended up getting ‘rug burns all over her knees’ after she saw Perry play a prank on his co-stars, and tried to follow suit.

‘I watched and they had one inside joke they did a lot,’ she told the panel. ‘Matthew Perry did it. I thought, “If I can make him laugh, it’s just going to feel so good.

‘He would – you couldn’t do it now, you’d get canceled – he would run and throw himself on the floor in front of a girl, and pretend to look up her skirt.

    ‘Again, you’d get canceled today…

‘I thought, “Oh my God, I know what I’m going to do”. So, I took a running… I ran so fast from one end of the stage all the way to the other, threw myself on the ground, and pretended to look up his pant leg.

‘And everybody was quiet. I’m on the floor and I’m like, “I just suck! I look like a crazy person!”

‘I’m on the floor for what felt like an hour, it was probably one second, and all of a sudden he started laughing, and they all started laughing.

‘He said, “How did you know to do that?” I said, “I’ve just been watching you and I just wanted to say thank you for giving us such humor.”’

Shields’ comments come just days after Kudrow revealed that she had recently found a note from Perry hidden inside a Friends prop he gifted her from set, to commemorate the series ending.

The pair, who shared the screen together for a decade, kept a close friendship in the years after the finale aired.

Appearing on the Drew Barrymore show, the Phoebe Buffay actress explained that he gifted her the Cookie Time jar from Monica’s (Courteney) kitchen, after they had filmed their final scenes.

Despite getting the gift years ago, it was only recently that the No Good Deed star stumbled across a note he had placed inside.

‘Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,’ she told the host. ‘I had recently found the note that he had in it for me. I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it.

‘But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.’

Although she didn’t share the contents of the letter, she simply added: ‘Timing is everything.’
