Frank Lampard understands frustration after Chelsea’s fifth successive loss
Chelsea FC has hit a new low after suffering its fifth consecutive loss in all competitions, losing 2-0 to Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. This is the first time in 30 years that the Blues have lost five games in a row. All five losses have come under the management of club legend Frank Lampard, who returned for a second spell as manager on 3 April.
Lampard is Chelsea’s third manager this season, after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. The fans’ frustration was evident, as the few who remained at Stamford Bridge at full-time greeted the whistle with boos. Lampard acknowledged the fans’ dissatisfaction, saying the players and staff had to “take it on the chin.”
With seven games played in April, Chelsea has only scored one goal, and their lack of attacking threat means opponents have a high chance of winning.
