France lifts Covid-19 curfew and hails return to ‘form of normal life’

The Times says the French prime minister hailed a “happy moment” yesterday as he lifted the curfew that has been in place since October and said that masks would no longer be obligatory outdoors.

Ignoring warnings that the Delta variant that has swept the UK could take hold in France, Jean Castex said the country was heading back to a “form of normal life”, with infections falling and the vaccination campaign in full swing.
