Young love can be brutal and while he may be a catch now, Josh O’Connor confessed he tried to impress FKA Twigs as children and failed miserably.
While promoting his new film Challengers, with Zendaya and Mike Faist, leading man Josh reflected on a crush he went the extra mile to win over.
Turns out the 33-year-old made a band and wrote his own songs just to impress a girl from his school’s production of Bugsy Malone.
In a strange twist of fate, that fellow student was Tahliah Barnett who is now better known as FKA Twigs, the Grammy nominee.
‘I really shouldn’t be saying this, but it’s hilarious,’ he said in a new interview with GQ Hype.
‘I was in a band called Orange Output basically to try and get Twigs to go out with me. I was the lead singer, and one of the lyrics I wrote was “I’m addicted to crack, motherf***er”.’

Orange Output were sadly short lived and Josh stuck to his acting rather than serenading his potential dates, which we think worked out nicely.
The Crown star added: ‘The closest thing I’d had to crack was Coco Pops.’
FKA Twigs did not respond to his affection, apparently blissfully unaware that the band was an attempt to win her over.
‘I don’t think she knows who I am,’ Josh concluded.
After his stint on royal Netflix drama The Crown, playing a young then-Prince Charles, the actor shot to fame.

He’s received critical acclaim and awards for the drama series and other projects such as Gods Own Country and Emma.
While Twigs may not have noticed his affection at school, the 35-year-old certainly knows who Josh is.
Following the interview, which was conducted before the SAG AFTRA strikes began, the Cellophane responded to GQ Hype via email.
She said: ‘I’m very flattered that he tried to do that because I was definitely not cool and not particularly popular.’
We’re weirdly rooting for these two now, what a power couple they would be.
