John Wick is getting a prequel in the form of a limited series and the trailer has finally dropped and fans are thrilled.
Keanu Reeves will not be starring in this Peacock original series The Continental: From the World of John Wick but the cast is still pretty stellar.
The first trailer reveals a glance into the action-packed three-part show which will focus on the iconic Continental Hotel, delving into its origins.
An official synopsis reads: ‘The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind.
‘Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.’
Colin Woodell steps into Winston’s shoes while Mel Gibson is transformed into hotel owner and crime kingpin Cormac, to mixed opinions.

‘This sacred institution wields power beyond your imagination,’ the 67-year-old actor ominously says in the trailer.
Action breaks out as Gibson continues to explain the baseline plot of the show – Scott’s brother has stolen something very important that a lot of ‘dangerous’ people want back.
Fans have called out the casting of Braveheart actor who has been the subject of controversy for several years, having to deny in 2020 that he once called Winona Ryder an ‘oven dodger’.
He has been levied with accusations of antisemitism since 2006 when he went on an antisemitic rant against a police officer after being pulled over for drink-driving.
Four years later, a recording emerged in which he was heard making threats towards his former partner Oksana Grigorieva.
In 2011, he told Deadline: ‘I’ve never treated anyone badly or in a discriminatory way based on their gender, race, religion or sexuality – period. I don’t blame some people for thinking that though, from the garbage they heard on those leaked tapes, which have been edited.’
While the initial outrage at his casting appears to have settled, fans who are still supporting the series seemed to be most excited to see Katie McGrath.

The Merlin actress was the subject of numerous tweets as she was revealed as The Adjudicator, giving fans ‘life’ with her half mask.
‘All I care about is seeing Katie McGrath!!!’, wrote one viewer.
Another said: ‘Actual question: do I need to watch other John wick movies to understand this? I’ve never seen them. I’m watching this for Katie McGrath.’
The Continental: From the World of John Wick will be available to stream on Peacock from September 22.
