Finsbury Park stabbing leaves man with ‘potentially life-changing’ wounds | UK News

Witnesses said he was attacked while he was sitting drinking coffee at a shop in Finsbury Park, before his attackers fled the scene at around 2.40pm yesterday.

Metropolitan Police officers attended the scene where they discovered a man with multiple stab wounds.

Images circulating on social media show the victim being wheeled away on a stretcher by paramedics.

A witness told Metro: ‘They were sitting outside the coffee shop when two men came up to them, and then went straight for them.

‘It looked like they had been sent there to get them and they knew who they wanted.

‘It was a targeted attack clearly, all of the men had knives an were wearing hoodies. When they (attackers) pulled out their knives the others already had theirs ready togo too.

‘They stabbed him a few times then just ran away, the police helicopter is out looking for them.

‘It was the middle of the afternoon they didn’t care who saw who did it.

‘It was clearly a gang attack.’

Another woman said: ‘I was just sat at home and then there were all these blue lights outside my house, I went out to see what was going on and people were running everywhere.

‘Police must have been there really quickly because it was close to the station’

Police have since put a cordon in place and are now appealing for witnesses of the attack.

The force later confirmed that a man has been arrested and taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

A statement from the Met said detectives are appealing for witnesses amid the stabbing.

It added: ‘As a result of the incident, increased stop and search powers under Section 60 Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994 have been put in place to cover the local area, including both the Finsbury Park and Tollington wards until 3am on Tuesday, 12 November.’
