Metro – Fight serial drink-drive epidemic

    September 30, 2024

The Metro reports hundreds of motorists have been caught drink-driving at least four times.

Elsewhere, the front page reports on ‘Israel’s onslaught’ – noting as Yemen is being attacked by Israel, Netanyahu is refusing to ‘let up’ despite pleas from the West.

Hezbollah leader’s body recovered from rubble after Israeli air strike

The body of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been recovered following an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon.

It comes just days after Nasrallah, 64, became the seventh leader of the militant group to be killed in an airstrike in a Beirut suburb.

His body is believed to be intact after it was found at the site of the attack in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Reuters reports citing a medical and a security source.

A statement from Hezbollah said the group’s leader for more than three decades has ‘joined his fellow martyrs.’

Drink-drivers may need to pass breathalyser test every time they start their car

Serial drink-drivers may soon be forced to have breathalysers fitted to their cars, after research has shown the top culprits have been caught reoffending at least four times.

Recent figures have revealed a total of 27,837 British drivers have been convicted of drink-driving on multiple occasions.

Of those convicted, 372 had been caught at least four times, including four who were prosecuted on seven separate occasions.

Motoring organisations have said the figures demonstrate the need for the Government to consider introducing alcolocks to the UK, which prevent vehicles from starting unless the person successfully passes a breath test.

‘Israel targets Yemen in airstrikes whilst continuing attack in Lebanon’ - Paper Talk

    Editorial 30 September 2024.

Monday’s UK newspaper front pages cover a wide variety of domestic and international stories. The most notable is the rising escalation in the Middle East as Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen and tanks began to build up on the Lebanon border.

A little closer to home, the Conservative Party leadership contest is in full swing, with many of the hopefuls reacting to the latest extreme comment from Kemi Badenoch.

Ongoing speculation over the upcoming October Budget continues to make the headlines as does previews of Boris Johnson’s book regarding his time in office.
