Two teenagers fired a BB gun at Father Christmas riding a sleigh collecting money for charity.
Santa was in the middle of his fund-raising street tour in Oldbury, West Midlands when he came under fire on Sunday evening.
The driver of the sleigh, ex-police officer David Glover, said he heard loud ‘pops’ and saw a youth on a moped with a brightly coloured gun.
He said: ‘Basically Santa gets on his sleigh and we have several bucket carriers who carry collections buckets next to the sleigh collecting donations.
‘As it starts to get dark we pull up to make a stop and these two youths, on a black moped, come screaming up to Santa with their phones out.
‘There is a big crowd – they just rode straight through them and nearly knocked over one of our collectors.’
It happened during Sandwell Lions Club Santa’s Sleigh event, where the big man himself travels around the borough.
The youths rode away but came back armed with a ball-bearing pistol.

Shots were then heard as they fired as Father Christmas and his entourage.
But luckily Santa escaped unharmed – and now a hunt has been launched for the shooters.
West Midlands Police has been contacted for comment.
