Daily Express – Farage warns: Britain is at quite a “perilous point”
Nigel Farage has warned that Britain is at a “perilous point” as more riots are expected on Wednesday night, the Daily Express says. The Reform UK leader is urging Keir Starmer to “act on ‘dissatisfaction’ over mass immigration”. He has also condemned the violence across the country.
Elsewhere, the front page says the Thames Water’s crisis deepened when it was hit with a proposed £104 million fine for a “catalogue” of sewage failings.
Nigel Farage sets out three-point plan to end riots as he warns UK at ‘perilous point’
Nigel Farage warned Sir Keir Starmer that Britain is at a “perilous point” as the nation braces itself for another outbreak of riots.
The Reform UK leader condemned the widespread violence of the last week.
But the Clacton MP claimed the Prime Minister does not understand a “general feeling of dissatisfaction” about immigration, as he doubled down on accusations of “two-tier policing”.
The arch-Brexiteer declared in an eight-minute video on X: “He needs to start listening to the people – and the vast majority of people are decent, are law-abiding, support British values, believe that this is a great country as I do, but are fearful, fearful for the future, the integrity of family, community and nation.
“And I really believe we’re at quite a perilous point. If we allow all of those things that we’ve built, defended over centuries, if we allow all of those things to come under threat, then we are in very, very big trouble.”
Thames Water facing record £104m fine for sewage failings, Ofwat warns
Thames Water’s crisis deepened when it was hit with a proposed £104 million fine for a “catalogue” of sewage failings.
Regulator Ofwat also hit Yorkshire Water and Northumbrian Water with fines of £47 million and £17 million respectively.
Thames Water has been struggling with debts of £14.7billion.
It announced last month it only had enough cash to fund operations until the end of May 2025.
Thames Water, Britain’s largest water supplier, has been handed the penalty by regulator Ofwat just weeks after warning it only has enough money to survive until May 2025.
The regulator can fine companies up to 10% of their annual sales.
