Hungaroring Set for Transformation Ahead of 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix
The 40th edition of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix will take place from 1-3 August 2025 at a rejuvenated Hungaroring, which has undergone significant renovations in the past year to elevate the venue’s status on the F1 calendar.
A Stunning Makeover for the Hungaroring
Recent construction work unveiled during a press event has fundamentally transformed both the aging paddock and media centre. CEO Zsolt Gyulay expressed his pride in the renovations, stating that the new facilities are “an uplifting sight” that meets modern motorsport standards.
New Facilities and Infrastructure
The new paddock building features:
- 40 garages: 36 for teams and four for technical services.
- Catering and VIP area: Designed to enhance the guest experience.
- Administrative offices: Streamlined for efficient operations.
- Rooftop terrace and new storage facility: Offering additional amenities.
Although construction will continue until April 2026, the completed exterior is already operational.
Gyulay noted, “Starting next year, we will have a main building that meets all standards—not only for automotive and motorsport events but also for conferences and large-scale gatherings.” However, he clarified that some areas “are not yet in use” due to incomplete internal facilities.
Upgraded Grandstand and Tunnels
Two new tunnels now connect the paddock with the redesigned grandstand, which caters to 10,000 spectators. The covered grandstand is equipped with upgraded commentator booths and a modern terrace, enhancing the viewing experience for fans.
Economic Impact and Future Prospects
Hungarian State Secretary for Sport Adam Schmidt highlighted the integral role the Grand Prix plays in Hungary’s recent history and its economic significance. The event drew an impressive 300,000 attendees last year, with 80% of them from abroad, generating a gross domestic product exceeding 26 billion forints (around €64 million).
“Every forint invested by the government into the Hungaroring has returned more than one and a half times its value to the Hungarian economy,” Schmidt stated.
The Hungarian Grand Prix has been extended on the F1 calendar through a new agreement signed in 2023, ensuring its presence until at least 2032, contingent upon the completion of modernisation efforts.
A Bright Future for F1 in Hungary
As preparations for the 2025 Grand Prix continue, the upgraded Hungaroring is set to enhance the experience for teams, drivers, and fans alike, solidifying its reputation as one of Formula 1’s premier venues.
