Big Brother’s third civilian edition of the revived reality show is set to begin in late September.

The legendary series, which began on Channel 4 in 2000 before moving to Channel 5, was fully revamped and relaunched by ITV in 2023.

ITV is now very much the official home of the beloved show and has released two civilian editions and two celebrity editions, with new presenters filling the shoes of legendary Channel 4 host Davina McCall.

Viewers are eagerly awaiting news on when the third ITV edition of Big Brother will get underway, and when the cast of new faces will be announced.

Big Brother’s return comes as part of a wave of reality shows kicking off their new seasons, with Strictly Come Dancing, The Great British Bake-Off, and RuPaul’s Drag Race UK all coming back in the space of a few weeks.

Here’s everything we know about Big Brother 2025.

    When does Big Brother start?

On Monday, ITV confirmed that its upcoming third series of Big Brother – 22nd overall – will start on Sunday, September 28 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

A statement read: ‘Big Brother: Live Launch will see hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best once again welcome an eclectic mix of strangers from across the UK who will all become Housemates living under one roof.’

‘The nation’s most renowned residence, the Big Brother House, will yet again play host to all the mischief and mayhem and has undergone a makeover that’s easy on the eye.’

The start date for 2025 – being September 28 – means that Big Brother 2025 will be starting more than a week earlier than Big Brother 2024, which didn’t get underway until October 6.

The ITV statement continued: ‘Following Big Brother each night will be Big Brother: Late & Live – an extra slice of exclusive Big Brother content with fiery debate and hot takes from our celebrity guest panel.’

It concluded: ‘Big Brother: Live Stream also makes its return to screens, airing seven nights a week exclusively on ITVX, giving fans the opportunity to watch live footage into the small hours after Big Brother: Late & Live.’

When will the Big Brother Housemates be revealed?

As ever, fans can expect to discover the identities of this year’s new Housemates when Big Brother re-launches on September 28.

It’s hoped that ITV will be sticking with the live introductions from 2024 after the pre-recorded Housemate intros did not go down well with viewers in 2023.

A source told The Sun last year: ‘ITV brought back the live element for the celebrity version last autumn … it did bring back the important sense that anything could happen, and it would all be caught on camera.’

The source added: ‘That’s even more exciting given the fact that this is not the celebrity version, so we really have no idea what kind of characters are going to emerge from the limousines and go into the house.’

Who are the Big Brother presenters and narrator?

Big Brother legend Marcus Bentley is expected to return once more as narrator, having been the iconic voice of the show for all 21 series to date, plus the celebrity editions.

Last year, AJ Odudu and Will Best continued as the faces of the series, following in the footsteps of the likes of Emma Willis and Davina McCall, and they have been confirmed to be returning for the new series.

Fans have definitely taken to AJ and Will’s partnership, with the two boasting years of presenting now, racking up impressive CVs along the way.

Blackburn-born AJ has been presenting for 16 years, starting out when she was just 21, and was involved with hosting Big Brother supplementary shows in the early 2010s.

Will was also a panellist on Big Brother’s Bit On the Side in the early 2010s – a series that AJ hosted for a year before returning for the revamped series on ITV.

Who won Big Brother last year?

Forensic psychologist Ali Bromley was declared the winner of Big Brother 2024, taking home the life-changing sum of money of £90,000.

The win meant that Ali, 38, was not only the oldest-ever female winner of the beloved reality show, but also its first-ever lesbian winner in the UK.

Ali beat fellow finalists Marcello Spooks, Segun Shodipo, Hanah Haji, Nathan King, and Emma Morgan to join 2023 champ Jordan Sangha in the BB Hall of Fame.

Speaking in her winner’s interview, after learning she had received a whopping 51.9% of the votes, Ali said she believes people backed her for being ‘authentic’ and not having a ‘game plan’.

Watch the Big Brother live launch, September 28, on ITV2 and ITVX.
