Everton have reportedly made a late move to sign Manchester United starlet Hannibal Mejbri who is in talks to join Sevilla on loan.
Hannibal recently had his contract with United extended by another year but his short-term future at Old Trafford is up in the air.
The midfielder has much potential but has struggled for game time this season, starting just four games and playing just 130 minutes in the Premier League.
Though both player and club agree a loan move would benefit his development, Erik ten Hag is hesitant to sanction his departure given the Red Devils’ injury issues.
It is said the manager wants to wait to see what condition Casemiro and Mason Mount, who are nearing returns from injury, are in, especially with fellow midfielder Sofyan Amrabat away at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Nevertheless, interest in Hannibal is high across Europe and though Freiburg and Lyon were keen on acquiring his services, Fabrizio Romano claims the 20-year-old would prefer a move to Sevilla.
The struggling La Liga side, who are also attempting to sign Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana on loan, are in talks with United but a deal is far from completion.

But Romano also says that Everton are now trying to hijack the deal and have made contact with United and Hannibal now has a fresh decision to make over where he would prefer to play.
Sean Dyche’s team have performed well this season and would be comfortable in mid-table had they not been deducted 10 points by the Premier League for breaching financial regulations.

As a result, they are 17th, a point above the relegation zone and the Sean Dyche will be wanting all the help he can get to keep his side up.
In the meantime, Hannibal is in contention to play for United on Monday night when they travel to Wigan Athletic for an FA Cup clash.
