The cost of living crisis has hit the UK hard and even Gemma Collins has felt the pinch of heating bills skyrocketing.
Gemma, also known as The GC, 41, has revealed she has banned fiancé Rami Hawash from leaving lights on as she attempts to cut down her energy consumption at her £1.3million home.
The former Towie star admitted recent price rises have made her ‘mindful’ of how much she is spending, revealing on her GC Podcast: ‘The cost of living crisis, yes I have the news on, I try not to but I said I’m going to spend October and November trying to make sensible cutbacks because if you look after the pennies they look after you.
‘I have done something with every meal time, I go into my cupboards and make some serious cutbacks like everyone else.’
She added: ‘It is scary, mortgages are going up, electric’s going up. I’m telling everyone not to put the heating on in my house. I’m making sure every light is off.
‘I normally have every TV switched on in the room – not necessarily watching something, but I’d have TV on in one room, music on in the other, but I’ve really been mindful to cut back on all of that.’

Gemma admitted that she is becoming an ‘eco warrior’, adding: ‘My dad [Alan] came round and told me to cut it off at the plug – I’ve been really mindful to cut back on electricity.
‘I told Rami if he leaves the light on, it’s just not good. I said “Ram, we need to be serious, we’ve got to be saving energy.”’

She confessed that pinching the pennies isn’t something she is used to, revealing: ‘I’m becoming so far removed from the GC.
‘I’m becoming mindful about electricity, I’m like an eco-warrior – I’m even growing vegetables.’
Gemma moved in to her £1.3million mansion in Essex last year and has kept fans updated with the renovations as she made the home her own.
She has overhauled the enormous garden and filled that and the home with life-sized animal statues as well as a large outdoor swimming pool for summer.
