Dannii Minogue has sparked speculation she is set to appear at the Eurovision Song Contest next year.

Over the weekend it was announced that Olly Alexander would be representing the United Kingdom in Malmo, Sweden, with the news revealed during the Strictly Come Dancing final.

The UK is now currently favourite to win Eurovision for the first time in over 25 years.

But a social media post from pop superstar Dannii has now sent fans into overdrive wondering if she’s also set to hit the stage in May.

On Tuesday, the stage design for next year’s contest was revealed, with a video teasing what it would look like.

The post, shared by the official Eurovision Song Contest page, was captioned: ‘Good folk of Europe and beyond… say ‘hej’ to the #Eurovision2024 stage!’

Soon after Dannii, 52, re-posted the video, adding: ‘The stage is set…and the countdown has begun!’

Unsurprisingly many people flooded her with questions about whether this was an indication she would somehow be involved next year.

‘Wait…WHAT’S HAPPENING,’ one fan commented on the X post.

‘Omg. Are you going to be on that big stage,’ someone else shared.

Another added: ‘Oh…please let it be true.’

Meanwhile another fan asked: ‘Dannii are you saying what I think you’re saying?’

Not much was done to dispel the rumours, with the official Eurovision page then sharing a video of Dannii from the music video for 2003 hit I Begin to Wonder and added: ‘I…begin to wonder’ alongside a smirking face emoji.

Rylan Clarke then weighed in, posting: ‘Don’t do this to me.’

As another fan said: ‘If you’re playing with my feelings, I will hurt you Eurovision!’

There was quickly even more speculation about what might be happening, with one person listing some theories.

‘Three theories here. 1. Dannii is representing AU. 2. Since she was Dami Im’s coach on X Factor, maybe she helped Dami choose a song. 3. Australia Decides returns and Dannii hosts,’ they shared.

For the uninitiated, Dami Im won the fifth season of The X Factor Australia in 2013, with Dannii acting as her mentor.

Some have said she might reunited with sister Kylie on stage again (Picture: Don Arnold/Getty Images)

She went on to represent Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 held in Stockholm, placing second.

In recent weeks it was confirmed that the country would be returning for the 2024 contest.

While there’s no official word yet on whether Dannii might be reuniting with Kylie on stage, earlier this year the sisters put on a surprise performance together at World Pride 2023 in Sydney.

Towards the end of Kylie’s 30-minute set, ticket holders got more than they bargained for when Dannii was bought out on stage, and the two belted out the chart-topping hit All The Lovers, much to the delight of fans.

Metro.co.uk has contacted representatives for Dannii Minogue for comment.

Eurovision returns to BBC One on May 7, 2024.
