Europe steps up vaccine as Delta variant takes hold
The Times says the Delta variant is about to become dominant across much of mainland Europe, prompting Portugal to reimpose curfews on Lisbon and more than 40 other districts.
European states have been warned that they are facing a fresh wave of infections and will have to step up their vaccination programmes if they hope to protect their populations through herd immunity.
