
EU leaders agree huge defence spending rise
The Guardian reports on the ‘huge’ boost to defence spending that was agreed during an emergency meeting in Brussels yesterday, held by European leaders. The boost has been hailed as “a watershed moment” by the paper. It adds that the show of unity was “marred” by Hungary’s PM, who failed to endorse a joint statement calling for Ukrainian involvement in peace negotiations with Russia.
