Erik ten Hag says Marcus Rashford situation is ‘internal matter’
Erik ten Hag said he will deal with Marcus Rashford after omitting him from Manchester United’s squad for their 4-2 FA Cup win at Newport County, citing an “internal matter.”
Rashford, who claimed illness, was allegedly seen at a Belfast nightclub on Thursday. The England striker had visited Northern Ireland to see former teammate Ro-Shaun Williams. Despite Ten Hag citing illness, questions about squad discipline arise.
In a statement on Sunday, United said Rashford “stayed at Carrington to train as he recovers”. Ten Hag, speaking after United’s win in south Wales, said: “He reported ill and the rest is an internal matter.” Ten Hag refused to expand when asked why Rashford’s absence was deemed an in-house matter. “It is an internal matter. As I said, we will deal with it. I will deal with it.”
