Enzo Fernandez has hailed his ‘strong bond’ with Chelsea teammate Moises Caicedo and has spoken out about the struggles of boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea spent £106.8m to sign Fernandez from Benfica 12 months ago before bringing in fellow midfielder Caicedo from Brighton in a £115m deal this summer.
Despite Chelsea spending huge fees on players, it has not helped them on the pitch, with the side struggling to push on much after Pochettino arrived in May.
The Blues suffered a 12th-placed finish in the Premier League last term but since Pochettino took over, they are still just ninth following 21 games this season.
Fernandez has defended his fellow Argentine, though, as he told ESPN: ‘We need time, it’s a process with a lot of new players.
‘The group came together this year, it isn’t easy to quickly find a good way of playing. But we are doing all we can to find that style as quickly as possible.
‘The day-to-day with Pochettino is really good, he gets very close with the players.
