Cole Anderson-James: Meet the TikTok comedy sensation Ricky Gervais has cast in After Life
The i says when Cole Anderson-James downloaded video app TikTok at the beginning of the first lockdown, like millions of other young people across the UK, he was purely hoping to be entertained. Just 18 months on and the 24-year old has been cast in the third series of Ricky Gervais’ black comedy Netflix series After Life after the comic spotted his uncanny lip sync videos to clips from The Office.
While Anderson-James dreamt about acting as a child, he never thought he’d have the opportunity to make a living from it. Raised in Essex, he went on to study Film and Television Studies and, like Gervais’ character Andy Milman in Extras, tried his hand at being a film extra before taking a David Brent-esque sales job (“I was selling business-to-business data, basically your information to companies for marketing. Am I doing it now? Absolutely not”).
