A man has been arrested after a woman was raped at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
The victim, aged 23, says she was attacked near a bush by a man with a knife shortly before midnight on Monday.
It’s thought the woman was walking with a friend along the Champ-de-Mars in Paris when she went behind a bush to go to the toilet, Le Parisien reports.
The man then allegedly jumped on her and tried to rape her, and when she tried to push him away, he took out a knife and threatened her. She then stopped fighting back and he raped her.
The victim is reportedly a British police officer and was visiting Paris for a two-day trip with a friend.
Police arrested a 35-year-old suspect about an hour later, who was taken into custody overnight.
