The Script took a moment to pay tribute to late bandmate Mark Sheehan as they performed in Hyde Park this weekend.
News of Sheehan’s shock death broke back in April when the band confirmed that the 46-year-old had died following a short illness.
Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power announced in a statement: ‘Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness.
‘The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.’
Both members took time away as they mourned the loss of their friend, later returning to their tour and with a set at British Summertime festival on Saturday (July 1).
Video footage captured by Metro.co.uk showed an emotional O’Donoghue, 42, thanking the crowd for their support over recent weeks.

‘I just want to take this time out to say thank you so much to everybody for all your messages.
‘We wouldn’t have been able to get through these few months if it wasn’t for you guys.’
The Irish singer continued: ‘He (Sheehan) was so much looking forward to coming out and playing these shows, so I’m gonna dedicated a song to him right now.’
He proceeded to play If You Could See Me Now, which was released in 2013 and written about the death of both Sheehan and O’Donoghue’s parents.
The emotional tune includes lyrics such as: ‘I still look for your face in the crowd, oh, if you could see me now.’

Videos and photos of Sheehan appeared on the big screen as The Script sang an acoustic version of the well-known track.
Tributes flooded social media following Sheehan’s shock death, with The Script bass player Ben Sargeant saying in April he was ‘honoured to have known’ him.
O’Donoghue spoke out on his own Instagram for the first time in June.
The Hall of Fame hitmaker issued a statement warning fans he wouldn’t be contactable for a while while the band played tribute shows in honour of Sheehan.
Sharing a solemn image of a burning candle, he penned: ‘We need to be one big family right now, so we’re switching off our personal accounts for a while ahead of the shows.
‘We’ll be posting content from Marks tribute shows in Blackpool and Wolverhampton on @thescriptoffical.’
He finished with the words: ‘Big love,’ along with a heart emoji.
O’Donoghue previously wrote a touching tribute to his bandmate and long-time friend back in 2020, while reflecting on their friendship.
He said at the time that he was ‘blessed beyond measure’ to know him.
Sheehan is survived by his wife and three children.
