Matthew Wolfenden has ‘unfollowed’ his wife Charley Webb on Instagram, it has been reported.

The pair met on the set of Emmerdale, and Matthew, 43, proposed to 35-year-oldin 2009.

However it has been a rocky road for the couple. They split in 2013, with a spokesperson saying at the time: ‘Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have today confirmed they have separated.’

They got back together in 2015 with Matthew telling the Mirror: ‘It was never a permanent split, we just needed some time apart’.

Eventually they tied the knot in February 2018, to the shock of all their friends.

OK! Magazine reported at the time that the couple were joined by 100 guests at Ripley Castle near Harrogate thinking they were attending Charley’s 30th birthday – when in fact they were off to their wedding.

Now, The Sun reports that Matthew – who recently left Emmerdale after 18 years in the role of David Metcalfe – has unfollowed his wife on Instagram.

Indeed, while Charley – who played Debbie Dingle for 19 years, leaving the soap in 2021 – appears to still be following her husband, Matthew doesn’t follow her back.

The publication reports that up until last night, Matthew was still following Charley, and a source told them: ‘Charley and Matthew were in very different places in their lives when they first got together.

‘Three kids later and with new careers in the mix, everything has changed and perhaps they are no longer the unit they once were.’

However, Charley is nowhere to be seen on his following list (Picture: Instagram)

This comes after Charley was pictured out and about with a ring on her right – not left – finger in a picture obtained by The Mail.

Charley and Matthew have three sons together. Their eldest, Buster, was born in April 2010 while second child Bowie was born in December 2015. They welcomed their youngest son Ace in July 2019.

Matthew recently admitted that leaving Emmerdale was particularly difficult, getting emotional on a recent Loose Women as he said: ‘It was so emotional to say goodbye, particularly to Joe-Warren [Plant] who plays Jacob, he’s grown up with me.’

Now, he is playing Buddy the Elf in the newest revival of the musical, based on the 2003 film starring Will Ferrell.

Meanwhile, post-Emmerdale Charley bagged herself a role as in ITV police series The Long Shadow – out now – which dramatises the five-year manhunt for the serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, commonly known as the Yorkshire Ripper.

Metro.co.uk has contacted both representatives for comment.
