There is horrifying violence in Emmerdale’s episode next week, with a life-changing trauma unfolding.

Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) has been happy to have Craig back in her life, as he is seemingly a good friend to her.

After they reflect on their lost baby together, Lydia’s trust in him is absolute – but he is about to shatter it in the worst possible way.

In terrifying scenes, Craig forces himself on Lydia and rapes her, leaving her world in pieces as she feels isolated and scared.

Deciding to keep her ordeal to herself, Lydia carries a harrowing secret, and life is never going to be the same again.

There is another form of attack elsewhere in the village too, when Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) is terrified to find Tom King (James Chase) badly beaten by thugs.

As she calls the police, will justice be done?

Meanwhile, bridges are finally being built between Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Caleb Miligan (William Ash)

Lydia and Sam are left confused when Craig arrives back at Wishing Well unannounced. Intent on confronting an elephant in the room, he hopes he can talk to Lydia about their past.

She nervously offers to take him to their baby’s resting place. Later, Craig and Lydia look over where their baby’s ashes were scattered and imagine what his life would have been like.

They reflect on their lives and it becomes clear their shared grief has bonded them. Upon returning, Lydia and Craig share a charged moment. Keeping her almost kiss a secret from an oblivious Sam, we wonder where her renewed connection with Craig will lead.

Caleb attempts to broker peace between the warring Nate and Cain. Their interest is peaked when Caleb offers a new proposal. Caleb suggests making the driving firm a shared enterprise between Cain, Nate and Nicky.

Nate shows interest but it’s clear Cain isn’t convinced. However, despite their past hostility, it seems the two are finally headed in the right direction.

Lydia’s anxious at Home Farm as she snaps at Kim before sharing about her charged moment with Craig. Before long, at his office, Lydia hands in her resignation but falters when Craig emphasises how much their recent connection has meant to him.

She takes back her resignation but worries if she’s making the right call. Soon, Craig reveals his true feelings for Lydia and she’s terrified when he begins to force himself on her.

In a state of utter shock after being raped by Craig, Lydia’s unable to process what has just happened to her. Craig drives an utterly broken Lydia home. Making her excuses, Lydia escapes upstairs.

Killing a call from Craig, Lydia silently sobs as the shower’s hot water runs over her. Lydia takes the decision to hide away the clothes she was wearing when she was raped, resolved to keep her trauma a secret.

Caleb starts to bond with the Dingles (Picture: ITV)

Caleb makes his entry into the family official with a drink from the Dingle welly. Later that evening, a successful family gathering draws to a close. Chas is happy to see her brothers working together when they set about cleaning up.

As Cain and Caleb wash up, the brothers start to reunite. Caleb’s happy when Cain suggests he won’t completely rule out going into business together.

Amelia comes clean to Noah about her anxieties of living alone and she makes a decision.

Belle feels insecure when Tom says he’s looking for a new place and learns it may be out of the village. Then at the Vets, Tom and Dawn chat about their respective homelife struggles but there may be a hint of flirtation.

Later that day, Belle’s thrown to see a hint of chemistry between Dawn and Tom, especially when he decides to stay late at work with her.

Belle’s disheartened when her date with Tom is interrupted by Dawn and a vet emergency.

Pulling up to the vets in his fancy new car, Tom unwittingly leaves Belle unimpressed when she spots him offering to take pregnant Dawn for a spin in it.

Later, in a bid to make peace, Dawn invites reluctant Belle to bring Tom along on a double date with herself and Billy but tensions soon rise. Belle makes to leave, followed by Tom who is soon called out on a vets call.

Preparing to leave with his vet bag, Tom is confronted by a scally who demands his car keys. Attempting to stand his ground, Tom is hit on the head by a second scally, and they kick him before stealing his car.
