Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is on the edge in Emmerdale after killing a man.

Damon Harris, Chloe’s (Jessie Elland) dad, was murdered by Charity over Christmas during a showdown. Charity pulled the trigger on a gun because she needed to save Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) but, despite the seemingly heroic act, ending someone’s life is having a major impact on her mental health.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen little glimpses of Charity experiencing PTSD. She’s shouted at Moses, revealed she hasn’t been sleeping properly, and is also suffering with flashbacks from the moment the gun went off.

Yesterday (January 18), Charity snapped at Moira (Natalie J Robb) after once again being reminded of what she did. The outburst was so extreme Charity pinned Moira against a wall and then rushed into her house.

Tonight, Moira followed Charity and was desperate to know what was going on.

Eventually, Charity fell apart and confessed to Moira that she can’t deal with her overwhelming emotions after killing Damon.

Moira, wanting to help, reminded Charity that she didn’t intentionally kill Damon, she did it to save Mackenzie, but that didn’t really make her feel any better.

As the conversation continued, Moira then opened up about a secret from her past that’s similar to Charity’s ordeal. She confessed that in 2017, she was responsible for killing Emma Barton and in the aftermath, the ordeal eat away at her so much, she nearly ended her life.

Charity found a connection with Moira and then asked her how long it’ll be until she feels normal again.

Moira told Charity that it’s important she opens up to Mackenzie, but she didn’t want to. Charity feared that if she did, Mackenzie would leave the village to find Chloe and Reuben, a task that might be easier than looking after her.
