We’ve missed that smile! (Pictures: ITV)
Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) recently decided to get back together in Emmerdale, but creating a dynamic where they’re boyfriend and girlfriend, rather than just best friends, hasn’t been easy.
Paddy and Mandy were together in the past, of course, but a lot has happened that’s changed them both.
Most recently, Paddy has been recovering after trying to end his life. Reuniting with Mandy took a bit of time, but a conversation with Bear (Joshua Richards) made him realise that he did need to take a chance on love and said that he wanted to be with Mandy again.
As Mandy and Paddy tried to hang out on cloud nine for as long as possible, it became apparent there was a problem.

Found by Marlon (Mark Charnock), Paddy opened up to him and explained his fears, saying that the last time he had sex with Mandy, it was right before he disappeared from the village.
Marlon reassured his mate and said that he’s in a better place now, and that he also went through something similar after his stroke.
The chat really helped Paddy and so, that afternoon, he shared a bottle of wine with Mandy and felt a lot more confident.

After they slept together, Mandy asked Paddy if they could make a pact together.
He didn’t want to, fully aware that life could change within a split second. He told Mandy that he wanted to live ‘free’, with ‘no expectations’, just a ‘hope and an intention to do our best’.

The final thing Mandy wanted to know was whether Paddy felt positive.
He paused, reflected, and then the tears started forming in his eyes as finally, Paddy realised.
He was happy again.
