Love is in the air (Picture: ITV)
Well this is a giant joyous leap forwards for Emmerdale’s Arthur (Alfie Clarke) and Marshall (Max Fletcher) – they finally decide to give their romance a go!
Could this be the Dales’ new power couple?
Somehow, these two lads have overcome a great deal in their reasonably short friendship. Marshall initially bullied Arthur over his sexuality, pranking him in front of some friends in a homophobic jibe.
But it later transpired that Marshall himself was gay and struggling with his identity.
The two teens spoke about feelings and seemed to be getting close when they hit the next road block – Marshall’s dad.
Colin turned out to not only be a raging homophobe, but physically and emotionally abusive to his son. He forbade them from seeing each other and planned to send Marshall away to a boarding school in a bid to keep them apart.

And in his latest difficulties, struggling to cope with self-acceptance, Marshall turned to the bottle and made himself sick to the to the point of threatening his own life.
But through all of this, there has been one constant – Arthur. He has been by his side through thick and thin, not once being put off by Marshall’s attempts at pushing him away.

He’s carefully and kindly watched over him, biding his time until the time was right.
And that time is now – despite Marshall recently telling Arthur they couldn’t be together, the pair decide they’re ready to go on a date.
We’re not crying, you’re crying. Could this be the start of something truly magical?
