Sam tries his best (Picture: ITV)
Sam Dingle (James Hooton) is treading on eggshells in upcoming Emmerdale episodes as he tries to work out the best way he can support Lydia (Karen Blick) in the aftermath of her rape.
In the initial weeks following her attack, Lydia kept it a secret for fear of her friends and family’s reaction, and due to Craig’s (Ben Addis) comments about not being believed.
As the emotions and trauma became too much to handle, Lydia was found by Kim (Claire King) while out walking in the pouring rain.
Lydia managed to reveal that she was raped, but admitted she doesn’t want to tell Sam because of the impact it would have on her marriage, and the family life she has worked so hard to build.
Coming up, Sam is gutted when Lydia turns down the offer of spending the day together.
Unsure on how to handle things, Sam lets an insistent Lydia clean the house from top to bottom.
Feeling completely lost, Sam is even scared to touch his wife.
