Emotions are running high in Emmerdale as parents are forced to say the most painful goodbyes.
Following the death of Heath, Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) is an absolute mess, understandably.
As the funeral gets underway, he’s not even sure he can bring himself to attend, and he also refuses to believe Cathy’s (Gabrielle Dowling) version of events from the night.
Will he lose another child?
Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) is also facing pain as a parent as she has to face up to potentially seeing Ivy go.
But she is prepared to take drastic action first.
Amid all the tearful farewells, there is also an exciting new arrival, as Coronation Street’s Paula Lane makes her long-awaited debut.
Monday January 15
Ethan tries to help Aaron (Picture: ITV)
Chas pulls Liam into a passionate embrace but the pair panic when they hear Paddy, Mandy and Eve entering. Chas manages to hide just out of sight while Mandy eyes Liam, knowingly.
Liam’s mortified to confirm Mandy’s suspicions and admits that there is a woman in the house. When they probe him further, he lies and protests that it’s no one they would know.
Before she can leave, Chas is wrongfooted when a solemn Liam confesses that he felt a lump in her breast.
Refusing to talk about it, Chas quickly exits, seemingly in denial. Outside Liam’s house, Chas begins to break down but hurries away in fear that she’ll be seen
Ethan tries to help Aaron but when Aaron tries to kiss him, a furious Ethan storms off leaving him utterly broken and alone.
Thursday January 18
Bob’s distraught to think Cathy’s still lying (Picture: ITV)
Charity’s exhausted after another restless night and snaps at Moses. Sarah’s concerned for her Gran as she struggles to deal with the lack of sleep. When she receives a call from his school, Moses reveals that he was fighting over rumours about Charity being a murderer.
Charity’s gutted to see just how much Harry’s death has impacted not only her own but also her children’s lives. Charity worries how long she can continue pretending she’s alright. Meanwhile, at Home Farm, Moira’s disappointed to learn that Isaac started the rumours about Charity.
Feeling responsible, she resolves to put things right. Finding Charity, Moira apologises to her but when a loud bang sends Charity into a panic, Moira’s concerned to see how much Charity seems to be struggling.
When Moira tries to touch her, Charity snaps and pins her against the wall, clearly in a state of utter distress. Will Moira be able to help Charity?
It’s the day of Heath’s funeral and Bob’s distraught to think Cathy’s still lying as he crumbles at the prospect of the day. As the funeral looms over the entire village, stirring up old memories.
Wendy tries to console a distraught Bob but he decides that he can’t face today and refuses to attend the funeral, preferring to be alone with his grief. Pollard breaks the news to Cathy that Bob won’t be attending the funeral.

Although she’s gutted, Cathy puts her feelings aside, determined to do right by her brother.
The village turns out to pay their respects to Heath, meanwhile, inside, Bob’s crippled by all-consuming grief. Cathy begins to buckle under the emotional weight of seeing Heath’s coffin but is grateful to find a supportive Bob by her side.
Later, Cathy’s broken to realise that Bob still doesn’t believe her.She stands her ground, stating that she won’t move home if Bob can’t believe her.
Her friends support her as an emotional Bob exits, gutted to be back to square one with his daughter. Meanwhile, in the graveyard, Angel’s overwhelmed with guilt. Will she finally confess that she was driving the car the day Heath died?
Rhona guiltily lies to Marlon.

Tuesday January 16
Liam tells Mandy and Paddy that he’s sleeping with Chas (Picture: ITV)
An upset Chas can’t help but stress about the lump in her breast. Meanwhile, Liam accidentally reveals to Mandy and Paddy that he slept with Chas yesterday.
Clearly wrongfooted, Paddy attempts bravado while Liam and Mandy remain awkward and Mandy’s concerned by the depth of Paddy’s irritation at the situation. Furious, Chas goes to confront Liam about Paddy, concerned that he might know about the lump too.
Liam sets her straight but is worried when Chas continues to squirm at any mention of her lump. Will he be able to encourage her to get the checked out?
Bob’s emotional as he tells Wendy that he’s refusing to see Cathy in order to protect her from himself.
Mandy arrives at the vets’ social, dressed in an extravagant Liz Hurley inspired outfit. When a loud mouthed managing director, Jules, rudely teases her about her dress, her blood boils as Paddy panders to him, and refuses to introduce Mandy as his girlfriend.
Paddy opens up to Mandy about his insecurities around Jules. Although she’s hurt, she agrees to support him.
Overhearing Jules lambasting his PA, Ella, Mandy consoles her. When Jules makes some more rude comments about Mandy, Ella pours a drink over him.
Returning to the group, Paddy mistakenly blames Mandy for the chaos. Will Mandy be able to forgive Paddy’s behaviour?
Aaron’s smug as he manages to convince a reluctant Mackenzie into stealing another car with him.
Belle’s surprised to hear that Tom’s already booked a wedding date.
Wednesday January 17

Brenda’s livid when Bob continues to avoid a heartbroken Cathy, she gives him both barrels, telling him he needs to step up and support his daughter. Clearly in torment, Bob mulls over Brenda’s words.
Charity and Mack are both struggling but can’t open up to each other how they are feeling.
An encounter with Manpreet in the Hide leaves Ella with a potential job opportunity as a receptionist at the new surgery.
