There’s a mystery in upcoming Emmerdale episodes: where is Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles)?
The B&B’s co-owner has vanished from the village after it’s become clear that she’s been racking up massive debts.
With her refined tastes Bernice has attempted to make the B&B the most swanky boutique destination in the Dales and that kind of class doesn’t come cheap. Her scented candle budget alone has been phenomenal. Meanwhile, as Bob (Tony Audenshaw) is about to find out, suppliers haven’t been getting paid.
In desperation Bernice took out a £20,000 loan, but she put it in the name of her sister, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). When she failed to make the repayments the loan company were soon after their money – and debt collectors arrived to seize the Kings’ possessions.

Rather than facing up to the havoc she’s caused, Bernice goes to ground and nobody knows where she is.
Or do they? Nicola notices that Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) is trying to act very casual and is immediately suspicious.
She’s right to be suspicious, too, as Cathy is helping out a terrified Bernice who is hiding out at Brook Cottage. She fears that Nicola is going to report her to the police and she could go to prison.

Cathy gives her updates about what’s happening in the village as Bernice cowers behind closed curtains, but it’s not long before Nicola works out where she is.
Cornered, Bernice’s first instinct is to run but her sister blocks her escape. She finally has to face Nicola and admit everything that’s happened.

Nicola isn’t moved by her explanations and excuses and is staying firm – she’s going to tell the police that Bernice took out a fraudulent loan.
The only way out for Bernice is if she accepts a deal that Nicola proposes to her. Will Bernice accept and keep herself out of jail?
