Emotional scenes in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale will see Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) panic when her son Reuben starts running a temperature.

It comes after Reuben’s dad Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) returned from his honeymoon with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and is determined to prove he is there for Chloe and their son – despite keeping them a secret from his new wife.

After visiting Chloe to see how Reuben is doing, the pair clash, with Chloe branding him nothing more than a ‘sperm donor’, which evidently hurts Mack.

Chloe eventually opens up, revealing that she’s lonely and is struggling more than she’s letting on, as Mack pulls her in for a hug, with a stunned Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) horrified as she finds the two of them together.

In the latest episode of the soap, Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) is shocked to find out that Chloe is planning on moving to Scotland without telling Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson), who is off on a course.

Chloe assures that it’s for the best, but the new mum’s attention is soon elsewhere when she realises something isn’t quite right with Reuben.

After discovering the infant is running a temperature, Chloe takes him to see Dr Liam, who is concerned about his symptoms and suggests they take him straight to the hospital.

Chloe’s world falls away when she’s told it’s likely that Reuben has bacterial meningitis, and Mack struggles to watch his infant suffer from afar while keeping his connection to the tot a secret.

He is left reeling – will this terrifying diagnosis lead to the revelation Reuben is his son?

Both rocked by the news about Rueben, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) share a moment remembering their own experience with infant loss.

As news filters through the village about the baby’s condition, the former couple reconnects over the loss of their baby Grace.
