Lydia’s reminded of her difficult past (Picture: ITV)
Emmerdale’s Lydia (Karen Blick) has done all she can to forget about the traumatic still birth of her son when she lived in the care home as a youngster, but a blast from her past is about to bring it all back.
The secret of Lydia’s baby was unearthed back in 2019 when the baby’s body was discovered on school grounds and a picture of the baby’s mother, a woman named Jennifer, was circulated with striking resemblance to Lydia.
The truth came out of her awful ordeal back in her teens, and it’s something she’s tried to bury again since. But in her hunt for some extra work, Lydia is unexpectedly thrown back to that time when her world came crashing down.
Sam finds an old dolls house in a skip and brings it home in the hope of upcycling it for Esther’s birthday. It reminds Lydia of one she had in the children’s home and as she and Sam work on the project together, she reminisces about what happened with her baby, Toby.
The fact they’ve had to rescue a dolls house from a skip is a nod to the Dingles ever-present money worries, and with the situation with Dan (Liam Fox) worsening, Lydia decides she needs to increase her wages to help Amelia (Daisy Campbell).
